“After a rainy summer, the fine weather in September stimulated ripening. The Cabernet grapes have often turned out better with this vintage than the Merlot. This Saint-Emilion is big rather than fleshy; its tannins are tight with very noticeable acidity, which gives it its freshness. Its undergrowth and dry leaf aromas indicate that it is approaching its best, but the tannins still have their say. It is bigger than the 1995.″
