“1997 broke all the weather records: a very mild winter followed by an extremely rainy spring and a tropical August. Harvesting often began very early and had not been earlier since 1893. The grapes picked at the end of the season had ripened well. Pontet-Fumet is fresh but tender on the finish with fruit that has aged, moving towards hints of green, spice, brown tobacco and autumnal aromas. It should be drunk now. Supple but substantial. So tasty!”
