1998 was a top quality vintage. Warm dry weather made the grapes perfectly ripe and helped them develop thick skins that protected them when it rained in September. Saint-Emilion wines were big and velvety. 1998 here is well structured, with noticeably powerful body. The tannins are still perceptible. The wine has aged in terms of its aromas, which are animal and spicy, but it can still age more in terms of its body.
