This vintage was not easy to make. After a very rainy winter and beginning of spring, temperatures grew high with a lot of humidity. Thanks to a clement end to the season, Saint-Emilion wines turned out to be positive more or less across the board. Pontet-Fumet displays great generosity in its aromas with truffle, slightly cooked fruit, leather, brown tobacco and spice. It is full on the palate, slightly better constituted than the 2002, more-ish and with no roughness. Its uniformity will ensure that it continues to evolve harmoniously.
Score 15/20. Alain Chameyrat,
