Gold Medal at the Bordeaux – Vins d’Aquitaine Competition
—
“The weather in 2004 featured a dreary summer between June and September monthly temperatures that were higher than average. September helped ripen the grapes. The vintage is generally considered to be run-of-the-mill in Bordeaux. Having said this, its obvious qualities in terms of balance are underestimated. Pontet-Fumet 2004 is certainly not suited for laying down, but its uniformity is amazing. It is very clean on the palate, the aromas are pure, tending towards black fruit, truffle and refined spices. The leather finish is outstanding. It is ideal for drinking now, there is no sharpness and the finish is full of flavour.”
